A revamp of the government's PAYE [Pay As You Earn] is provoking some debate within the SME community in the UK, the problem is that the government wants everyone to change their way of contributing to the tax regime to make it easier for the government to collect. The problem is that the chosen system BACS [Bankers' Automated clearing Services] may be great for large organisations [like governments & banks] but is not always so good for small businesses who might use more traditional ways of payment, such as .... cash. Yes automated banking may be great for some companies but it is not the only way, and this should not be forced upon those that do not desire it.

It is plainly obvious that in order to comply with these proposals will take expense that some little family own firms do not have the spare finances to pay for these unnecessary changes. Especially at this time in the economic cycle, when recovery is a possibility in the near future, but it will still take the best efforts of the whole business sector to pull through. It is not always so simple to change, just because you, or the government, wishes you to change to automatic banking this doesn't mean that all of your employees even have bank accounts.

There are still people out there who for many reasons have, or even can have a bank account, things like bankruptcy and criminal record can mean people have no right to bank accounts. So who is this reform actually for, yes it is simply for the big companies, it doesn't help the little men.
